 Types of E-commerce and Examples

Types of E-commerce and examples will be the topic of today’s blog.

The different types of eCommerce can be beneficial when you’re starting an eCommerce business. It can provide insights into what your daily operations may look like, what opportunities are up ahead, what challenges to prepare for.

Business to Business (B2B)

Businesses sell to other businesses under the B2B model. EFashion Paris is a B2B marketplace between fashion wholesalers and retailers. Their goal is to collaborate with all fashion wholesalers in Paris and Aubervilliers and introduce them to a new sales platform.

Business to Consumer (B2C)

Business to consumer is a retail model where products move directly from a business to the end user who has purchased the goods or service for personal use. Sephora, a luxury cosmetic retailer leading the way in the industry, is one of the best examples of B2C marketing strategies.

Consumer to Consumer (C2C)

In the C2C model, a consumer – not a business – sells goods or services to another consumer.

Fixed-price and auction items are the two different categories of product listings available on eBay. The Buy It Now button makes it simple to buy fixed-price items. Each auction item has a Place Bid button that allows bids to be entered and displays the current bid amount. The highest bidder is awarded ownership of these items after a set period of time during which they are open to bids.

Consumer to Business (C2B)

The consumer-to-business (C2B) e-commerce model allows businesses and consumers to have a mutually beneficial relationship. It is the opposite of the traditional business setup: In this relationship, the consumers create value that an organization uses to engage in a business process or gain a competitive advantage.

  • Fiverr. The Fiverr website started with contractors offering services for $5 as a loss leader, but it has evolved to offer somewhat higher price points. Once a company has hired the contractor for an inexpensive task, they are more likely to keep using that contractor for subsequent projects.

 Business to Government (B2G)

Business to Government (B2G) refers to when a business sells products, information, or services to federal, state, or local government agencies.
Senseware is an internet solution service provider, with the main product being a complete IoT Technology Stack. In detail, Senseware’s service provides modular connectivity for digitising assets in the physical environment.

 Consumer to Government (C2G)

C2G stands for Consumer to Government or Citizen to Government, which is an e-commerce model between consumers and government agencies executed over the Internet.
For instance, you can pay your taxes, health insurance, and electricity bills online through the government's website.
